DID YOU KNOW ?

Cats get angry just as we do! You can tell a cat is annoyed when it holds its tail stiff and the entire body is rigid. Sometimes a cat growls and arches its back to appear as large as possible.

HEALTH DEPARTMENT

GLP is now for cats! Okava Pharmaceuticals announced clinical trials for a cat friendly GLP-1. The New York Times reports that some people have already been administering GLP-1 to pets off-label. But veterinarians are quoted as saying it’s NOT a practice being discussed in the industry. Healthy food and exercise are good for cats, just as they are for people.

RESCUE DEPARTMENT

Don’t forget to get your rescue story to me! The what, where, and how about a pet you have rescued from a shelter, the street, or wherever! I want to publish your story in our newsletter! Send a hard copy or email to frontdesk@drnegola.com .

Bird strikes have declined more than 70% since Hercules (2018) and Ned (2024) began to patrol 5 days a week chasing birds and woodland creatures from the airport. These 2 Border Collies have more than 72,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok! Good for Hercules and Ned!!

How high can cats jump? And how do they do it? Jumping isn‘t just a pastime activity for cats. It’s an essential part of how they explore, stay safe and active. From navigating their environment to satisfy hunting instincts, they rely on powerful legs and sharp senses.

Cats can leap 8 or 9 feet vertically, about 5 or 6 times their body length. Often before they leap, you see them crouch down, getting ready to spring. Their tail acts as a counterbalance to keep them steady in front. To discourage cats from leaping onto countertops and dining tables, provide a well-built cat tree or shelves on a wall that provide places for them to jump.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Canines are unmatched as companions ,providing faithful and unconditional love. But as it turns out, another reason for dog ownership is that dog owners appear to live longer than non-dog owners. In a 2019 meta-analysis of nearly 4 million people published in the journal circulation of Population Health and Outcomes, having a dog was linked to a 24% lower risk of death during the study period compared with people who lived canine-free. Two dogrelated factors that might confer are a cardiovascular and longevity benefit.

They always need foster homes and welcome help with transportation.

ANIMALS SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO— RUN IF THEY HAVE LEGS. SWIM IF THEY HAVE FINS.
